A Chinese Business Visa is required for travel to China for commercial purposes such as business negotiations, meetings, exhibitions and trade fairs, training sessions, or installations.
Purpose of Travel: | Business trips |
Duration of Stay: | 30 to 90 days |
Number of Entries: | Single, double, or multiple |
Validity Period: | 90 days from issuance for entry into China or 6 to 12 months for multiple entries |
An up-to-date business invitation, meeting specific formal and content criteria, is required to apply for a business visa. The invitation must include the applicant's birthdate and full name, be created on the company’s letterhead showing the postal address and telephone number, and be hand-signed and stamped.
The invitation should specify the date or period of the applicant's required presence. It should also clarify the business relationship between the inviting and the applicant’s company, and outline the tasks the applicant is expected to perform in China. A printed scan of the invitation suffices for the visa application.
Depending on the timing and length of the engagements in China, the invitation may cover one, two, or multiple visits within 3, 6, or 12 months. Typically, the duration of each entry is capped at 30 days,. but stays of 60 or 90 days are also possible if justified by the invitation. Occasionally, business visas for up to 180 days are issued (always for a single entry).
The visa office determines whether a business visa or a short-term work visa is required, based on the invitation. For the latter, a work permit must be applied for in China. Sometimes, a deployment letter from the employer is necessary to unequivocally determine the nature of the trip to China.
With a China Business Visa, you can also explore China beyond your business engagements for tourism purposes.
The China Business Visa allows entry into China for 90 days from the date of issuance. Once you enter, the visa is valid for a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days (up to a maximum of 180 days in exceptional cases). If the visa is for double or multiple entries, both entries must occur within 180 days of visa issuance.
