Visas for China - What Documents Do You Need for Your Chinese Visa?

• Tourist Visa (L-Visa) for tours in China (1 x 60 days or 2 x 30 days). Application requires booking confirmations for international flights and hotel reservations for each day of the stay in China. Required documents: Flight and hotel bookings.
• Visitor Visa (L-Visa) for visiting friends and acquaintances in China (up to 180 days). A private invitation along with copies of the host's passport and Chinese visa are required (for Chinese hosts: a copy of the ID card).
• Family Visa (Q1 / Q2) for visiting relatives of Chinese nationals with a foreign passport and their relatives (from 180/60 days duration). A private invitation from a Chinese relative is required, along with a copy of the birth or marriage certificate to prove the relationship.
• Family Visa (S1 / S2) for visiting foreign family members studying or working in China (from 180/60 days duration). A private invitation from the relative living in China is required, along with a copy of the birth or marriage certificate to prove the relationship.
• Business Visa (M-Visa) for stays of up to 180 days. A business invitation from a Chinese company is required. The invitation may specify a stay of up to 90 days; if an official invitation is provided, stays of up to 180 days are possible.
• Academic Visa (F-Visa) for non-commercial purposes (science, culture, sports). An invitation from the event organizer is required for visa application.
• Work Visa (Z-Visa) for work stays up to 365 days. Two documents are required for the visa application: a copy of the work permit, the business invitation from the employer.
• Short-Term Student Visa (X2-Visa) for study stays up to 180 days. An admission letter from a school or university in China must be presented (copy).
• Long-Term Student Visa (X1-Visa) for study stays up to 360 days. An admission letter from a university in China and the official document JW 202 are required, both in original.
• Journalist Visa (J1 / J2) for reporting from China. An official invitation from the local press office where the reporting will take place is always required.
• Crew Visa (C-Visa) Application requires a declaration from the airline or shipping company under whose contract the flights or sea voyages to China will be conducted.
