A Thailand visa can generally be applied for 3 months before the planned entry.

We currently offer two processing levels for a Thailand visa:

  • Express Processing (2-4 working days)
The processing time starts from the day of submission at the responsible consulate.

Depending on the type of visa, different documents are required. Always include:

  • The original passport (with at least 6 months validity remaining)
  • A color biometric passport photo in the format 3.5 x 4.5 cm
  • Foreigners living in Germany (EU citizens) need a registration certificate, non-EU citizens living in Germany need a residence permit.
  • For children up to 15 years of age, a copy of the birth certificate and copies of the parents' passports must also be provided
The dimensions are 3.5 x 4.5 cm, which corresponds to a standard passport photo. The photo should be biometric and taken against a white background. The applicant must look straight into the camera, should not wear white clothing, jewelry, or glasses (if necessary, rimless). Additionally, the photo must be current (not older than 6 months).

Currently, insurance is required for all trips to Thailand. Depending on the visa category, this must be provided by either a German or a Thai insurer. In the case of insurance from a German provider, the following criteria must be explicitly included:

  • Proof of travel health insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment in Thailand with a minimum coverage of USD 100,000
  • More information on the exact requirements for the insurance can be found in the respective chapter on the corresponding Thailand visa.

In addition to a visa for Thailand, a "Thailand Pass" is currently also required for entry. This must be applied for online in English or Thai before departure. Without this entry permit, entry to Thailand is not possible. More information can be found here:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, entry conditions are constantly changing. Therefore, it is advisable to allow more time for travel preparations and to regularly check the current entry requirements on the websites of the Foreign Office.

Often, travel health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment is required for entry. More details can be found in the respective Thailand visa category.

For the trip to Thailand, the following documents must be presented, among others:

  • Passport with visa
  • "Thailand Pass"
  • Copy of travel health insurance
  • Certificate of travel fitness ("Fit to Fly"). This document must be filled out by your family doctor. It must not be older than 72 hours at the time of departure and must be in English. The form can be found here: Attach Fit to Fly form.
  • Negative COVID-19 test (SARS-CoV-19 PCR test). The document must not be older than 72 hours at the time of departure and must be in English.

Yes. A 14-day state quarantine is currently required. This is usually spent in a so-called ASQ/ALQ hotel. The booking of such a quarantine hotel is made before departure to Thailand. The document is required, among other things, for the application for the COE certificate.

No vaccinations are required for direct entry from Germany. Travel vaccinations against Hepatitis A, and for long-term stays or special exposure, also against Hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies, and Japanese encephalitis are recommended. In the future, proof of a COVID-19 vaccination may also be advisable.
