Which India eVisa is right for your trip?
This guide is for travellers applying with a British citizen passport. India requires a visa unless you hold valid OCI or e-OCI status. The eVisa category must match the real purpose of your visit, so use this overview to identify the likely option before you apply.

Prepare your documents before you apply
Use the passport you will carry to India. For entry, it must be valid for at least six months after your arrival date and have at least two blank pages. You will normally need a clear scan of the passport biodata page and a digital photograph. Some categories also require supporting documents, such as an invitation, a business letter or a hospital document.
Enter names, passport numbers and dates exactly as they appear in your passport. Check the official portal’s current document requirements for your chosen category before you submit the application.
How to apply for an India eVisa online
You can apply yourself through the official India eVisa portal. Choose the category, complete the form, upload the required documents and pay the government fee through the official process. The authority decides whether to grant the eVisa.

Before you travel
Read the ETA carefully and make sure its details match your passport and trip. Take the required confirmation with you and use an authorised immigration checkpoint. An eVisa is not a promise of entry. Indian border authorities make the final decision when you arrive.
