Australia ETA eligibility and app requirements
The Australian Department of Home Affairs controls eligibility and requires the government Australian ETA app for every subclass 601 application.
Check the visa route first
- You must be outside Australia and hold an ETA-eligible passport.
- The ETA is normally valid for multiple travel during 12 months, or until the linked passport expires if earlier, with stays of up to three months per entry.
- Criminal convictions, some health circumstances, an ineligible passport or an unresolved Australian Government debt can require a different visa route.
- Each family member needs a separate application.
The government app step is separate
- The official app scans the passport and its NFC chip, takes a live facial image and verifies the applicant's email.
- If an industry representative lodges the ETA, the applicant must be physically present with their passport and email access.
- Our online form prepares and checks the information; it does not replace the live identity steps in the government app.
- Do not arrange travel until the Australian authority confirms the grant in writing.
