British citizens normally need a visa to visit Ghana. Ghana launched its official electronic visa portal in May 2026; check the current route for your nationality and purpose before applying.

How to apply

1. Start from the Ghana Immigration Service and follow its official eVisa portal, or ask the Ghana High Commission which route applies to your circumstances.
2. Complete the application and supply the documents requested for your selected category. Follow the issuing authority’s current payment and submission instructions.
3. Check the decision and permission details before travel. Do not assume every application requires a posted passport or produces a visa sticker.

Prepare your documents

Check passport validity, your travel purpose and itinerary, accommodation or invitation evidence, and applicable health entry requirements. GOV.UK specifies at least six months’ passport validity after arrival and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Confirm the exact checklist with the issuing authority.

Fees, processing and permitted stay

Use current official fees and processing information for your route. Visa validity, number of entries and permitted stay are distinct; follow the issued permission rather than a generic 30–60 day estimate.
