The Chinese Work Visa (Z-Visa) is required for foreigners seeking to engage in formal employment within the People's Republic of China. Typical scenarios include being posted to a Chinese branch by a foreign employer, roles for visiting professors, or positions within Chinese hospitality establishments. Within 30 days of arrival, the Work Visa must be converted into a residence permit, typically issued for one year and extendable. This permit allows for multiple entries and exits from China.

Required Documents
- Completed Visa Application Form (exclusively online since May 2019)
- Biometric Passport Photo: Colour photo against a light background (~3.5 × 4.5 cm)
- Passport with at least 6 months validity and two blank pages
- Copy of the passport bio-data page showing the photo and passport details
- Signed privacy / data processing declaration if your application is being handled through our visa service
- Employment permit / work authorisation notice: Obtained by your future employer through the competent authorities in China. A copy is normally sufficient for the visa application.
Validity and Duration
The Z-Visa allows entry within 90 days of issuance for an initial 30-day stay. By the 30th day after entry, you must apply for a residence permit at the local registration office — valid for at least one year, extendable up to three years, allowing unlimited entries and stays.
