Japan requires most UK travellers to obtain a visa before entry. The most common category for short visits is the business visa or tourist visa applied through the Japanese embassy or a registered visa agent.
Standard Document Checklist
- Completed and signed visa application form
- Colour passport photo (approx. 3.5 × 4.5 cm, light background, printed on photo paper)
- Valid passport — minimum 6 months remaining validity, at least one blank page
- Certificate for Completion of Registration to the ERFS System (sponsor in Japan registers on your behalf at entry.hco.mhlw.go.jp)
