01You plan to stay for more than 30 days
02You will work or conduct business in Thailand
03You will study or travel for another non-tourist purpose
04Your passport is not eligible for visa-free entry
If one of these applies, check the general requirements below before choosing your visa.
Applying from the UK
To apply through the London Embassy, you will normally need to live in the UK, Ireland or a British Overseas Territory and provide evidence of your residence.
A valid passport
Your passport or travel document needs to meet the validity and blank-page requirements for the visa you choose.
The right visa for your trip
The visa you choose must cover the activities you plan to undertake in Thailand. A Tourist Visa, for example, does not permit work or business.
Clear travel plans
Your travel dates, accommodation and onward journey should make sense for the purpose and planned length of your stay.
Financial requirements
Each visa has its own rules on bank balances, income or sponsorship. You will need to meet the requirements for the option you choose.
Extra requirements for your visa type
Depending on the visa, you may also need to meet requirements relating to age, relationships, employment, insurance, medical checks or police clearance.
