Prepare the main documents below before you apply. The exact evidence depends on whether you are applying for family, retirement, voluntary work or another eligible purpose.
A clear copy of the biodata page of the passport or travel document you will use for your trip.
A colour passport photograph taken within the last six months and showing your current appearance.
A recent utility bill or rental agreement showing your name and address. Other evidence of your immigration status may also be required.
The amount and type of evidence depend on your route. Current Embassy guidance lists at least 30,000 THB (approximately £700) for family applications. The 90-day retirement route lists monthly income of at least 65,000 THB (approximately £1,500) or a current balance of 800,000 THB (approximately £18,000).
Family applications normally need a marriage, birth or adoption certificate, plus the relevant family member’s Thai ID, passport, visa or permission to stay.
Retirement applicants need to be aged 50 or over and provide evidence of their pension and finances for the selected route.
For unpaid voluntary work, provide a letter confirming your role and documents showing the Thai organisation’s registration.
Other Non-Immigrant O categories may require accommodation, medical, judicial, former Thai nationality or other purpose-specific evidence.

You may apply through the London Embassy if you meet the requirements for your selected route and currently live in the UK, Ireland or a UK Territory. You need to remain in the application region while your application is considered.

No. Family applications require relationship evidence and details of the relevant family member in Thailand. Retirement applicants need evidence of age, pension and finances. We check the documents against the purpose selected in your application.
The relevant Non-Immigrant O route can cover unpaid voluntary work supported by the required organisation documents. It does not by itself authorise paid employment. Contact our team before applying if your planned activities involve paid work.

You can ask Thai immigration about an extension before your permitted stay ends, but approval is discretionary. This product is single entry. If you leave Thailand without obtaining a re-entry permit, your current permission to stay may end.
Yes. Non-Thai nationals generally need to complete a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before each entry. The TDAC records your arrival information and is not a visa.
