Prepare the main documents below before you apply. The evidence you need depends on whether you are applying for workcation, an eligible Thai activity or as a family member.
A clear copy of the biodata page of the passport or travel document you will use for your trip.
A colour passport photograph taken within the last six months and showing your current appearance.
Evidence that you are permanently resident in the UK, Ireland or a UK Territory, such as UK indefinite leave to remain or Irish long-term residency.
A recent bank statement showing funds of at least £12,000 (500,000 THB). The Embassy may request further financial evidence.
A criminal record clearance certificate issued within six months of submission, such as an ACRO certificate or an Irish police certificate.
An overseas employment contract or employment certificate, or a professional portfolio showing your status as a digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer.
Confirmation of your activity in Thailand, such as an acceptance letter for Muay Thai or culinary training, or an appointment letter from a hospital or medical centre.
The main applicant’s DTV and evidence of your relationship, such as a marriage, birth or adoption certificate. This route covers spouses and children under 20.
Use clear, up-to-date documents. Additional evidence may be required for non-UK nationals, students, self-employed applicants and children.

Start your Destination Thailand Visa application hereThe DTV covers three main routes: workcation for digital nomads, remote workers, foreign talent and freelancers; eligible Thai activities such as Muay Thai, culinary training or medical treatment; and spouses or children under 20 of DTV holders.
You need permanent residence in the UK, Ireland or a UK Territory and must remain in the region while your application is considered. The Embassy may request further evidence or an in-person interview.
The DTV is valid for five years and permits multiple entries. Each entry allows a stay of up to 180 days, subject to the permission granted by Thai immigration.
Current London Embassy guidance requires financial evidence showing at least £12,000, equivalent to 500,000 THB. A recent bank statement is normally used, and further evidence may be requested.
The workcation route is intended for applicants working remotely for an overseas employer or operating as a freelancer or digital nomad. It does not by itself authorise employment with a Thai employer. Ask our team about the appropriate route if your plans involve local employment.
The London Embassy currently gives an approximate processing time of 15 working days and recommends applying six to eight weeks before departure. Cases requiring further documents or an interview can take longer, and no decision date can be guaranteed.
You may apply to the Thai Immigration Bureau for one extension of up to 180 days for each entry. Approval is discretionary. After the maximum permitted stay, you need to leave Thailand and may re-enter while the DTV remains valid.
Yes. Non-Thai nationals generally need to complete a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before each entry. The TDAC records your arrival information and is not a visa.
