Inpatient Medical Treatment in India
UK citizens planning treatment in an Indian hospital or Ayurvedic clinic can apply for an Electronic India Medical Visa (ETA) entirely online.

Passport bio-data page — colour scan; validity ≥ 6 months; at least 2 blank pages.

e-Arrival Card — mandatory from 1 October 2025; complete within 72 hours before each entry.

Medical eVisa — Additional Documents
Required
System-generated hospital invitation letter — mandatory from April 2025; must be issued by a government-recognised Indian hospital through the official system and contain a unique reference ID. Applications without this letter are rejected outright.
Note: Validity is 60 days from first entry (triple entry). Extension to up to 6 months may be sought from the local FRRO in exceptional medical circumstances.
