Frequently Asked Questions

Is the India Student e-Visa the same as a regular student visa?

No. The e-Student Visa (e-S V) is a distinct, fully online visa category the Government of India introduced in January 2025 for study at institutions registered on the Study in India portal. A regular (paper) student visa, applied for in person through a visa application centre, still exists and applies in circumstances the e-Visa scheme doesn't cover. Source: Press Information Bureau, Government of India, 10 January 2025.

Can UK nationals apply for the e-Student Visa?

Yes. The United Kingdom is on the Government of India's current list of nationalities eligible to apply for e-Visa services. Source: Government of India, official e-Visa portal, indianvisaonline.gov.in.

Does my institution need to be registered anywhere?

Yes. Your Indian host institution must be registered on the Study in India (SII) portal for most e-Student Visa categories. We verify this for you before your application is submitted.

What if I'm joining a medical or paramedical course?

You'll need an additional No Objection Certificate (NOC) from India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. We'll tell you if this applies to your course and help you request it.

How do I prove I can financially support myself?

Either a letter of support from a parent/guardian with a bank guarantee certificate, or your last 6 months of bank statements. Source: Government of India, official e-Visa portal.

What if my application is refused?

Visa decisions are made solely by the Government of India; we can't influence or guarantee the outcome. Our role is to make sure your application is complete and correctly documented before it's submitted, which is the single biggest factor within your control.
